"Why don’t I just start making my own candles with these awesome bottles that people just throw away?"
Cinder Candle Co. was founded in San Francisco, Ca, the home of its creator, Elizabeth. Elizabeth, known as Liz, by many of her friends and family, was always enamoured with repurposing cool objects she would find outside in nature, at antique stores, and local markets. From antlers to antique furniture to flower petals and rocks, and everything in between, they all had potential to become works of art. One day her friend Abby gave her an agate pendant and she loved how unique, wild, and vibrant the stone was. Combined with a love of making things, an obsession of amazing smelling candles, and a plethora of craft vineyards and breweries close by, she thought to herself – why don’t I just start making my own candles with these awesome bottles that people just throw away. Passionate about repurposing the glass, she loved the idea of also repurposing the stones she was wrapping around her candles. While living in San Francisco - at the heart of innovators, marketers, and companies on the rise – she realized all of her friends around her would give her the push she needed to start Cinder. The name was inspired by her friend Brittany’s dream of this candle company, becoming a reality. Cinder evokes natural beauty, charred wood, and new life. So on a crystal clear day in the crisp San Francisco air, Cinder Candle Co. was born. We hope you love these candles, and all they mean to us.
